Titanium diisopropoxide(bis-2,4-pentanedionate)
[Product name]: (CAS:17927-72-9)
I. Main chemical composition: titanium diisopropoxide(bis-2,4-pentanedionate) (CAS:17927-72-9)
II. Physico-chemical property:
It is a light red clear liquid, its titanium content is 9.9%, its refractive index is 1.481, its density ρ (25°C) is 0.996, its viscosity η (25°C) is 8.4MPa·S and its freezing point is 10°C. It is slightly soluble in ordinary organic solvents, acetones and mineral acids, partially slightly soluble in water and easily soluble in isopropanol, benzene and methylbenzene. It may be partly or completely crystallized and separated out when being stored under low temperature.
III. Application:
The main composition of HY-1801 is titanium oxide bis and is stable under normal temperature by the form of chelate compound. As solvent volatilizing during using, titanium oxide bis may involve in cross linking reaction with active groups (such as –OH, -COOH, -NH2, -CONH2 and -SH) of substrates, printing inks and coating, form bridges and increase molecular weight, thus improving heat resistance, chemical resistance, water resistance, dryness and other properties. Besides, by the bridging action of titanate towards resins and substrates, the adhesive force of printing inks and paints are improved.
IV. Application field:
1. Reactions between phenols antioxidants and titanium chelates will darken the color and it is recommended to use aluminum chelates on white inks, transparent inks and light color paints to avoid similar problems.
2. HY-1801 is a kind of strong chelating agent which is easy to chelate the metals. So it is recommended to store it with plastic barrels.
V. Product characteristics:
1. Enhance the adhesive force of printing inks and coatings to substrates (pretreated plastics, aluminum foils, metals and glass).
2. Improves the scratch resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance and boiling resistance of printing inks and coatings.
3. Accelerate the speed of drying and improve the glosses and pigment disperstiveness of printing inks and coatings.
VI. Use method
1. Substrates (plastic, aluminum foils. Metals and glass) usually requires of being pre-treated by electric spark, electro discharge, chemical treatment, etc and active groups like –OH and -COOH will be generated after such treatments.
2. Resins such as PA, NC, PU, PVB, CAB, CAP, EVA and PVB contain active groups such as –OH, -COOH and -NH2.
3. Additive amount: 0.5-3% (solid components of the resin).
4. Time of addition: it is recommended to add at the final production stage ofprinting ink and coatings under a temperature lower than 40℃. The substrates must be pretreated to have the surface tension of over 36-38 dyne.
5. After being processed, printing ink should be dried for 1 minute under 60℃ to allow reactions between titanate and the substrates.
